Equipment used: * Digital Cameras (4) * Infrared Thermometer (3) * Compass * Digital voice recorders (5) * EMF detector (2) * K-ll meter
Members present: Lori, Rick, Russell and Michelle
Investigation: We started the evening out in the basement, after Lori briefed us on what she had experienced the year before. The feeling of being watched was still felt there and just an overall sense of heaviness on some of our members.
There were many personal experiences during the night. Upon entering the west wing of cells on the first floor level, Rick was glancing around the lower cell level and a shadow person just appeared and as soon as he saw it, it disappeared!
The family quarters proved to be very interesting to say the least, as Rick captured a shadow apparition within one photograph. There were also some interesting orbs captured in this area. Also while all four members stayed in one of the bedrooms, doing EVP work, we heard a strange sound (after asking for a sign) as though the closet door had moved. Members tried the door and could not budge it. While asking questions, a "sigh" was captured on voice recorder.
Another interesting occurrence was after the first hour or so of investigating our group was heading up the lower hallway on our way to taking a break and Rick reported hearing the sound of a little kid chuckling or giggling! He tried calling out to the noise and taking some pictures, both efforts carried negative results.
We found the different locations of interest made popular by TAPS, such as the cell where Dustin marked an X on it, and also the room with all the commodes in it that Jay and Grant were impressed with. Group members also investigated the TB room. Members reported a strong heaviness upon entering the TB room. Members also reported an uneasiness and a feel of being followed or watched while investigating Solitary area of the prison.
The administration section of the prison proved to be very interesting; several unexplained footstep noises were coming from the hallway while we were in one of the offices. Could not tell however if this was do to paranormal reasons or not. The K2 meter spiked several times while in this section. We were able to debunk EMF spikes, due to electrical lines in the walls.
The chapel area was definitely a point of interest. Right away we heard a very loud thump sound, as if someone may have dropped one of the pews. We were unable to debunk this noise. Several times the K-ll meter showed signs of activity but photographs didn't produce anything but a few orbs. Members did note that during the times of the K-ll spikes, there was evidence of cold spots in the room. And the cold spots were moving; at first it was very slight and there was no obvious source of an 8 degree drop in the temp reading. Temperature drops were recorded from an 81 degree to a 73 degree. However toward the end of our time in the chapel members did note that a breeze was coming in from the back door of the room. That breeze was nonexistent during the first part of the investigation in this area.
Summary:
Over all, we really enjoyed investigating the prison. We feel that there is definitely paranormal activity there. We would like to go back though with a smaller group of people possibly and see if the results come out better as far as the evidence is concerned. That night, we would guess there were probably 150 people in the prison. Noise levels were at times very loud, and also we noticed there were a lot of different perfumes used by a few of the female investigators.
Three awesome EVPs were captured during our investigation; although sadly just before LT administration could receive these, member encountered a computer crash and they were lost forever. The best of these was captured in Solitary just after Lori asked if someone would like to communicate with us-- a whistle, like men do when they see a pretty lady. Another was captured in the family quarters, mentioned above, the loud "Sigh". The last one was inaudible as well as unexplained from other members within group.. Lesson to be learned, be sure to save your file on your voice recorder in case of an unexpected happening, etc.. or back it up before deleting from file. We all learn as we deal with the unexpected, this just makes us better people in a whole.
Follow-up is recommended for 2009.
